Okay, so my sister-in-law, Erin, sent me some new pictures today (we're still trying to get the family blog thing worked out :-P). I just about died when I saw this picture. Isn't this the CUTEST picture EVER?!?!? This is my brother with Benjamin. Sigh.
My mom forwarded this to me. Excellent laugh on a Monday morning. Especially an icky, rainy Monday (which I wouldn't mind if I could be home, cuddled on the couch with a book instead of stuck in my office :-P)
Anyway, there were a whole bunch of these, but this was by far my favorite :D
"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.
As she fumbled for her wallet I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse. "So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked. "No," she replied, " but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."
Okay, and 2nd favorite.
(A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)
I know I'm not going to understand women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root, and still be afraid of a spider.
Wow. We had one seriously crazy thunderstorm last night. As my friend Thomas at work said, now he thinks he knows what it sounded like in London during the bombing. LOL. I didn't ask which bombing that would be, but I guess WWII? Anyway, it was crazy! My poor puppies at my parents' house with me not there to take care of them :( But beyond the thunder and lightning, I, of course, lost power. About 12:30am the power went out, and then went on long enough for me to turn on the light while I was setting my travel alarm. Then it went out again and that crazy thunder kept me awake for quite a while after. I love thunderstorms, though. I actually considered going out on my patio and watching it. When I was little, my dad and I would sit in our garage in Colorado and watch thunderstorms and since then I've loved them. Anyway, a little nostalgia for you. This morning, however, I work up at 5am (probably because there was no air conditioning, no ceiling fan, and I was seriously uncomfortable, bleh) and there was still no power. I wandered around my place, pulled out candles and a flashlight and my kerosene lamp to get ready for morning. Then I went back to bed and didn't sleep. LOL. I finally started to doze as my alarm went off. Naturally. So, 7am and power still not on. No treadmill today, I guess :-P THEN, I get into the bathroom and light my lamp and candles so that I can see (because shaving in the dark = bad.) and as I'm in the shower, the fire alarm goes off. Sigh. I'm sure my neighbors were pleased. It went off like 8 times. It was still going off 30 minutes after I put out the lamp and all the candles! That thing is seriously uber sensitive. One time I was trying to burn off the dust in my fireplace which, of course, set it off like every two seconds. I tried to take the battery out and it still went off. Nuts. I digress. Anyway, I finally got ready and into the car with my wet hair, turned on the A/C and some Linkin Park and everything was better :) Besides. Scrapbooking convention today! HOW could things NOT be better? I have two classes and shopping today, and then tomorrow 3 classes, shopping, and cropping with Steph and Amber and Amber's friend Jacqueline. I'm a total geek, I know, but I love it. Besides. Now that hockey is over until camp in September, I have to have something to keep me busy, right? LOL, that's my excuse, anyway ;)
Oh! That reminds me! YAY Ovi! Our boy Ovechkin got the NHL Rookie of the Year award last night! Sweet.
Okay, I am waaaay psyched tonight. I just got an email from one of my favorite scrapbooking magazines requesting a layout I did to be published in their annual idea book. I'm so excited! Anyway, I just had to share :)
And now, off to see Nacho Libre. I'm so pumped to see this movie. I laughed until I cried the first time I watched the trailer, then had to watch it again to catch the parts I missed because I was laughing so hard. Hopefully, the film will live up to the advertising :)
Okay, so there's been a lot of construction in the lot directly across from my complex, and all I knew was that they were putting in a Harris Teeter. Nicole told me when we signed our contracts here that they were planning to make it like a small Reston Town Center, but I hadn't seen anything about it. So, today someone posted a link on our complex listserve with pictures and plans. Dude. I'm toast. There's a day spa AND a Maggie Moo's. See, I can stay away from the Cold Stone around the corner at Worldgate because it's actually a 3 minute drive and it requires effort. This, however, well, I'll be able to walk there faster than getting in my car. I'm going to have to start freezing my money in ice cubes or something when this place opens at the end of the year. Anyway, here's a sketch and a plan for what's going in. I'm psyched! (And not just because it's great for equity... lol). So, who wants to come hang out at my place? LOL.
My nephew, Benjamin Erik was born at 11:23am MST (exactly 40 minutes ago!). He is 6 pounds 7 ounces and 19 inches long. Mother and Father and both well and very happy. My brother says he has a complete FULL head of hair. All I'm sayin' is that my brother had BETTER have a camera with him, or I'm going to smack that kid around! LOL. Just kidding :D I'm so psyched. Now I have to practice spoiling someone other than my little puppies :D Auntie Gwen. I'm so excited. Yay!
ETA: Nicole said they should have named him Damian since it's 6/6/06. Shaking my head.
My brother sent pictures!
My brother just called from the hospital in Idaho... my sister-in-law went into labor this morning. My nephew is on the way! Just had to shout that out there. I can't wait! My parents will be flying out at the end of the week, and this means that little Benjamin will be joining us at family reunion next month. Woohoo!!! I'm so going to spoil this kid. I can't wait!!!
Ugh... it's amazing how quickly you re-acclamate to reality, isn't it? I continually catch myself thinking, two weeks ago right now I was on my way to Arenal. Stuff like that. As the number of weeks gets bigger, I get more depressed. I usually stop doing it after a month or two. Fortunately for me, I've got some good stuff to look forward to this summer, so all is well. For one, I just bought a plane ticket to Salt Lake so that I can fly out and see Melody in August. Woohoo! Yes. The fact that there are many, MANY scrapbooking stores in Utah adds absolutely nothing to my desire to go there. (There was NO sarcasm in that sentence. None. LOL). Also, I'm sooooo lucky (and I know it) - our execs at work have given us half-days every Friday through the summer. It makes it so much easier to come to work on Monday morning when I know I have that to look forward to. Hopefully I'll be able to get in a little pool time on Friday afternoons. Viva Summer!
Well. In the meantime, Stanley Cup Finals start tonight. Although I don't have any particularly strong feelings for either Edmonton or Carolina, I'm looking forward to watching. Two good teams, some good hockey coming. Maybe I'll even manage to get some scrapbooking done considering the fact that I didn't do a bit all weekend. It was a nice change for me, I just read. Also went and saw the DaVinci Code, finally, since I was on vacation when it came out. Loved it. I read that they're working on a film version of Angels and Demons next. I hope they keep Tom Hanks as Langdon. I actually found him much more believable than I had thought I would. Anyway. Back to work for me, but looking forward to half days every Friday really makes the week much getter. I have to admit, I do have a pretty sweet gig, here ;)
