Two days in a row!

I know, I got kind of crazy this weekend... posting two days in a row!  I'll try to keep from making that a habit ;)

Here's a quick layout I did - another one from Epcot Center in May.  I made this layout as a companion to this one so I skipped the journaling.  It's kind of self-explanatory anyway... lol.

Just Say Cheese

Also, we got our class pictures from school... I've had a few questions about my class so I thought I'd post this.  We look like quite the motley crew, don't we?

BYU EMBA Class of 2011

I'm the non-conformist with the bright blue ruffled blouse under my suit jacket ;)

And now, I'm going to try and plow through the rest of my accounting homework and then see if I can't get a little more scrapping done this weekend.

Happy mail day

I mentioned a few months ago that I had had a layout picked up for the October issue of Creating Keepsakes and it came in the mail today!  I wasn't expecting it for another week or longer so this was an unexpected treat!  I'm in the Amazing Pages section (and thrilled to be included with these talented ladies):

Amazing Pages

I loved all of the pages in that section and found myself doing quite a bit of page marking during my first quick run-through of the magazine so I think right now my Depeche Mode playlist and I are going to do a more thorough perusal and then maybe do an actual layout!

Sounds of the Universe

So I played a little hooky from school tonight, but I think I'm allowed total clemency in the case of all things Depeche Mode.  I just got back from the concert at the E-Center and it was, as usual, absolutely phenomenal.  I came away with complete reaffirmation of the reason why they've been my favorite band for 25 years (yup, I've been a die hard fan since 1984 if you can believe it).  I swear they just get better with age.

Now, normally I would have taken lots of pictures, but I went to grab my little point and shoot that I've been carrying everywhere for the last 4 years and the LCD screen had cracked since the last time I used it.  I have no idea how it happened, but oh well.  So I took a few pictures with my SLR outside in the parking lot and then left it in the car and just enjoyed the show.

Here's me and my friend Kathryn:

And the E-Center...

DM09 2
So we went in and found our seats and enjoyed the opening act, Peter Bjorn and John.  Kathryn and I both liked them - I'll have to listen a bit more and do some downloading... good stuff!  And then the main event.  As I said, I didn't have a camera, but they've been posting pictures of shows on the tour blog and I grabbed a few from Anaheim.  I'll probably snag a few once they post the Utah pics.

Waiting for the Night

Goodnight 2
Sigh.  Why do good things take forever to come about and then flash by in an instant?  I sat in the concert wishing it would go on forever... I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers that they make another album (or twelve) and just keep on touring, huh?  One good thing... they record every concert and you can go to their website to purchase and download the one you were at.  I'll be stalking that site to get a copy of tonight's show.  It. was. awesome.

And now, back to reality.  Sigh.

P.S.  There will be a layout.  Oh yes, there WILL be a layout.

A touch of magic

My post the other day with all the Prima goodies definitely got me in the scrapping mood so I pulled out a few pictures from our Disney trip in May to do a quick page.  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, especially since after I printed the photos it took less than half an hour to pull together (SUPER fast for me!)

Magic
I miss hanging out with my family... especially Adorable-Niece-Eraleigh!  I was talking on the phone to Nicole earlier tonight and I could hear Eraleigh in the background imitating her each time she would laugh.  It was so cute!  I can't wait to see pictures from their trip to Hawaii last week... it sounds like it was a lot of fun!

And now, speaking of magic, I'm going to need a little this week.  I got some bad news late last week that's had me frustrated.  The financial aid office at school had a major screw up and I'm almost a month into school and I just found out I actually have NO financial aid, at least as of right now (despite the fact that they gave me an award amount that I accepted).  So it's scramble time... unless something changes I'm probably going to have to cancel my trip to Peru which would really be a bummer.  I've really been looking forward to meeting Karen in person and rooming with Emily so cross your fingers and pray that I'm able to work it all out asap!

P.S.  I just got off the phone with financial aid... looks like there was a small oversight that they're working on correcting to bring back my financial aid. I might still be going to Peru!  Not out of the woods yet, but it's looking much better. :)

It's things like this...

... that make me wish I was at home in my scraproom instead of working.  This collage of products from Prima has me drooling and I want to go home and make something RIGHT NOW!!!

Prima goodness
You see what I mean, right?  This post has beautiful layouts to inspire me too.  Methinks I need to make a little time to scrapbook tonight.  This weekend at the very least!  I don't want to forget how to use a tape runner, after all. ;)

It's a miracle!

Yes, I actually did a layout this weekend.  I think it's been a few weeks but I finally managed to make some time to come up to my attic and scrapbook for a while.  And, as promised, I did a back to school layout with some pictures I took on my first day of school.  In the pocket on the right I included my admission letters, the schedule for Residency Week and a copy of my first homework assignment.

Back to School
It's probably going to be a while before I get back to posting more frequently, but once I get into a groove with school, work and studying, I'm hoping to get back into it more.  Besides... about that time the weather should cool off some and my attic won't be a sauna anymore!

So with that, I'm off to bake some cookies... I'm hosting my study group tomorrow night to work on our accounting homework and we're going to need some brainfood!

My new home.

Allow me to show you where I'll be living for the next 2 years:
TNRB-Exterior
I had my first "real" class last night... Corporate Financial Reporting (AKA accounting) and it was... wait for it... FUN!  The teachers are awesome.  Case in point: the first thing we did in class was a play.  They got volunteers and gave them scripts and props and they acted out a bunch of scenes that illustrated all kinds of basics about accounting.  There were lots of great principles learned, etc... and from there we went on to learn all about Enron.  The workload for this class is humongous, so at least it's fun!

I wanted to do a layout when I got home after class last night, but then I got home and the urge was gone.  Lately it seems like I'm always super motivated to scrapbook when I'm at work or somewhere else where it's impossible.  I went to Archivers last weekend (I HAD to use my coupon for a free box of 10 spools of American Crafts ribbon, right?) and got some back-to-school goodies so I'll be making a layout soon... promise!  In the meantime, picture me buried under reading, notes and homework about financial statements :)

Woohoo!

I got the new single when it came out the other day and I love it (duh, it's Muse.  they rock).  Counting down until the new album!

For those who have asked, I'm just finishing up a break on the last day of residency week.  The next two years are going to be hard and I'm going to have no life, but it's also going to be awesome.  My class is great and my learning team is tons of fun.  I love all the professors so far and I'm excited to get going with regular classes next week.  I'll have to give more details later... I need to try and do a back to school layout this week; after I read the 60 pages and do all the assignments for my Corporate Financial Accounting class on Tuesday, of course!  I'm kind of excited to dive in, actually... the reading looks much more interesting than I'd expect from Accounting - especially compared with the class I took as a freshman (many years ago!)  I'm sure the excitement and novelty of homework will wear off quickly, though. ;)

P.S. - Emily - I'm SUPER excited that you signed up for Peru.  That's going to be so much fun!

What happened to July?

I can't believe it's August!  It's like the last 2 weeks had wings or something... I swear it totally snuck up on me!

I've been up in the scrap attic but I'm not feeling inspired to work on anything so I've decided not to push it... I'm just in a down cycle with the inspiration and motivation, I'm sure it will come back soon.

School starts tomorrow!  I'm actually not really all that nervous, but I'm sure I'll start freaking out about 6:30 tomorrow morning.  lol.  At least I know a few other people in the program, so I won't be going in all alone!  I'm going to tuck my camera in my purse so maybe I'll get inspired to do a back-to-school layout sometime this week ;)
